We received care right away - kind of depends on timing and how busy they are. Our puppy ate something poisonous and had to stay overnight. He got the treatment he needed and was able to come home the next morning. For overnight care, he was never left alone and was constantly monitored. I was able to call for regular updates, even in the middle of the night, and no one was frustrated with me for calling more than I needed to, which was really nice (hard to leave your fur baby in the emergency room overnight) so it was very comforting that the staff was so patient and understanding. Puppy is now home and healthy thanks to the vets here! Can't thank you all enough!!

The front desk service was really great in helping make appointment originally and then calling to get me in off wait list - really helpful and knowledgable people. They ensured that they had all records from other providers when we got in. The techs and cardiologist I interacted with were kind and I felt confident in the care and information they provided for my dog. The new location has lovely views and more space in the waiting room. Parking seems a bit confusing at first visit - just look for the signs and head to the left. Also you have to take elevator from the parking lot up. We were seen promptly at appointment time.

Responded immediately and diagnosed and treated an acute potentially fatal condition. My dog is alive today because PESCM acted quickly and competently. Dr Kaae. This is actually the second time she saved Bob's life by her knowledge, persistence and willingness to continue until the solution is found. She's incredible. SAVED MY DOG

We have had two dogs who received medical care from Pet Emergency and Specialty Hospital in San Rafael. Our last visit was sad as we had to help our beloved Virgil over the Rainbow Bridge. The staff couldn't have been kinder or more caring. Everything was explained. We had as much time as we needed to say goodbye to our old friend and his passing was peaceful. We had as much time as we needed after he was gone to stay with him and mourn. We are very grateful for the way Virgil and we were cared for. 2026 Update: I continue to trust the professional skill of the staff and appreciate the kindness and skill of support staff. We continue to bring our dogs there. Their new building is awesome.

Overall I'm really happy with how my dog was treated. Also, I felt it was very affordable considering these were emergency services. I was fully expecting to pay almost double the actual total, so that was a big relief. The tone of the vet on the phone was very calming and understanding, helped us feel less anxious. Update from past visits: Alexander Tun is really great, I would highly recommend anyone looking for a neurology appointment to go to him. I wish I remembered all the other vets I've encountered during my last er visit because they were great as well especially during the high stress situation. Everyone is so patient with my very nervous dog. I can't thank them enough. It feels like the staff truly care about our pets.
