Dr. Shanel Xian grew up in the East Bay and earned her undergraduate degree in biology from UC San Diego. She spent a semester abroad at Lund University in Sweden before making her way back to Northern California to complete her veterinary degree at UC Davis.
Dr. Xian previously worked in general practice, human healthcare, and preclinical research before finding her passion in emergency medicine and completed an emergency mentorship program at PESCM. Her professional interests include emergency medicine, surgery, anesthesia, and One Health. Dr. Xian values the individual human-animal bond and listening to her patient’s human family members as part of formulating a care plan.
In her free time, Dr. Xian enjoys cooking, weightlifting, paddling with her dragon boat team, and spending time with her family and orange tabby cat.
