Dr. Blaise Waniewski studied zoology at San Francisco State University and immediately went on to earn his doctorate of veterinary medicine from the University of California, Davis. While in veterinary school he was president of the Feline Medicine Club and also held leadership roles volunteering for Mercer Clinic for the Homeless and Fix Our Ferals. Following veterinary school he continued his studies at Pet Emergency and Specialty Center of Marin, completing a rotating internship focusing on emergency, surgery, medicine and oncology. Through the internship Blaise developed a fondness for both the challenges and rewards of practicing emergency medicine. Following his internship he continued to work as an emergency clinician in the Bay Area. In 2014 he took the opportunity to rejoin PESCM as a staff ER clinician and Senior Veterinary Associate.
On his days off, he enjoys permaculture farming, composting, playing the tenor saxophone, cycling and painting. He lives with his wife Sasha and daughter Zelda in San Francisco with the company of their 5 chickens, 2 cats and 1 dog.
