Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of Marin (PESCM) was founded in 1998, replacing Marin’s prior veterinary emergency service in Terra Linda. Our state-of-the-art hospital was specifically designed to provide emergency and specialty care, with operating suites designed to suit the unique needs of our animal patients, an ICU and a full-service in-hospital laboratory. Diagnostic and therapeutic equipment includes an MRI, CT-Scan, digital radiography, ultrasound and video scoping.
PESCM is a unique facility, with some of the most advanced equipment for pets found anywhere in the country. We work closely with family veterinarians to provide comprehensive care for our patients. Our staff of doctors, technicians, and client care specialists has exceptional training, motivation, and compassion for the pets we treat. We have the latest equipment, including MRI, CT scan, digital radiography, a state-of-the-art intensive care unit, ultra-modern surgical suites, endoscopy, ultrasound, and more.
Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of Marin provides specialty services in the specialties of Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Oncology, and Surgery.
We are available 24/7 and no appointment is necessary for emergency care, though we do ask that you call in advance if possible. In addition to providing emergency care, we offer a team of collaborative specialists during the week, by appointment.
Our state-of-the-art hospital was specifically designed to provide emergency and specialty care. Patient cages and runs are conveniently located just off our main treatment floor to allow close supervision around the clock. Each pet receives individual attention, comfortable bedding, and outdoor walks (if medically appropriate). Except at times when we are unusually busy, we allow clients to visit their pets and feel this can promote a patient’s recovery.
Patients are normally referred to PESCM by their family veterinarian. Typically, your primary veterinarian will send PESCM a referral form. The form will describe your pet’s problem and identify the appropriate specialty department to see your pet.

Our central Marin location in San Rafael, just off the 580 and 101 freeways, allows rapid access from almost any location in Marin, the East Bay, or North San Francisco.
